Eventually, I mastered freestyle enough to swim the 16, very short, lengths and entered the mini triathlon, and have been hooked ever since. I have competed in numerous sprint and Olympic distance triathlons and more recently stepped up to Ironman 70.3 distance. I joined SYtri in its founding year - through the kindness and encouragement of everyone in the club my fitness levels, skills and confidence improved. I wanted to give something back to the club and so agreed to help out by becoming a coach. The support, encouragement and friendship throughout SYtri is amazing and this is always brought home to me on race day when the black and orange army is out supporting each other. For me, triathlon is about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, whilst getting out with friends and having fun!

I was lucky enough to be asked to join the coaching team of the newly founded SYTri and have enjoyed and improved in the Swim, bike and run experience.
I have taken part and enjoyed many sprint tri's and also tried to increase the distance.
I love being a member of SYTri for the training and social sides.

I ran a few marathons and was asked to be a last minute stand in for the 2005 the Bishop’s Castle Tandem Triathlon. My interest in triathlon developed from there and has now seen me complete two Ironman races and a hand full of Half Ironman races. I have also completed a number of endurance cycling events including John O’Groats to Land’s End in seven days and London to Paris in 24 hours.

My connection to Triathlon started back in 2015 when I decided I wanted a new challenge so entered the Shrewsbury Sprint Triathlon. My connection to Triathlon started back in 2015 when I decided I wanted a new challenge so entered the Shrewsbury Sprint Triathlon. I had previously been a keen runner but really enjoyed the variety of the different disciplines and the challenge of a new sport. I straight away fell in love with Triathlon and since then I have raced at distances from the super sprint to half ironman.
I joined the activator team in 2018 and since then have been leading some of our Sunday cycle rides. They are a great way to get into group riding and to meet other members. I used these rides regularly when I first joined and was keen to give something back by leading a few myself. I am also starting my coaching journey with British Triathlon which will hopefully help me to support even more members with their Triathlon journey !
